Current use
Bazarus currently uses cookies where they are technically necessary to provide authentication, maintain user sessions and support account-recovery functionality.
Authentication cookies
Authentication infrastructure may store session information in cookies so that a signed-in user can remain authenticated while navigating between pages and making authenticated requests.
Removing or blocking these cookies may sign you out or prevent authenticated marketplace features from working correctly.
Account-recovery cookies
Bazarus may temporarily use a cookie during the password-reset process to maintain the state required to complete account recovery securely.
Preferences and local browser storage
Theme preferences are saved in local storage (swissmarket-theme). Your language preference is saved in local storage and in a swissmarket-language cookie that lasts up to one year. The interface is available in English and German.
Recent search terms are kept on your device for search suggestions. Unsent form and message drafts use session storage in the current tab. These drafts are not published merely by being saved on your device. You can clear local and session storage through your browser settings.
Nearby search and listing views
When you choose nearby search and allow location access, the swissmarket-search-location cookie remembers, for up to one hour, the coordinates used for distance filtering. Reset nearby search to remove this preference.
The sm_listing_visitor cookie lasts up to one year and helps avoid counting repeated views of the same listing as new visits. Listing view counts are marketplace statistics, not advertising profiles.
Optional usage measurements
Help improve search and listing creation by sharing daily action totals. This is optional and off by default. We do not include your account, listing IDs, search words, messages, photos or precise location in these measurements. You can change your choice here at any time.
Usage collection is currently switched off for everyone.
Current choice: off. Browser Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control signals also stop collection. Withdrawing permission stops future events; anonymous totals cannot be linked back to you for individual removal.
Analytics and advertising
Optional first-party usage measurements are off by default and require your permission above. They store daily action totals without user or listing identifiers. No advertising pixels or cross-site profiles are added.
Your choice is stored in this browser under bazarus:optional-usage. No measurement event history is stored in your browser. Reports cover up to 90 days; older daily totals are removed when new measurements are recorded. Network infrastructure may still process request information in its normal operational logs.
Browser controls
Most browsers allow you to inspect, delete or block cookies through browser settings. Blocking technically necessary cookies may prevent account and session features from operating correctly.
Changes to this policy
This policy will be updated if the cookies, service providers or tracking technologies used by Bazarus change.
