Agree the price, what is included and collection or delivery arrangements before committing.
Use ratings as helpful context, not a guarantee. An unusually low price or pressure to decide immediately is a reason to slow down.
Plan a sensible handover
Choose a well-lit, public place when practical. Let someone know where you are going, or take a friend.
Inspect and test the item before completing the exchange. Check that it matches the listing.
For collection from home, share the address only once you have agreed the arrangements. Avoid putting private details in public listings.
Take care with payment
Be cautious about advance-payment requests, unexpected fees and links claiming you must pay to receive money or arrange a courier.
If you are selling, verify payment in your own bank or payment app. A screenshot or email is not confirmation that money has arrived.
Open payment services yourself instead of following unfamiliar links in a message. Do not let pressure rush your checks.
Keep your account private
Never share your password, sign-in codes or recovery codes with someone in a conversation.
Use a unique password and keep your email account secure. Check the website address before signing in.
Keep useful details in the listing conversation. Only share contact information you are comfortable giving to the other person.

Pause the exchange. Use the report option on the listing or message so the relevant context can be reviewed. Keep the conversation and any useful evidence.
